Cletis Arrowood - March 19, 1927 ~ April 26, 2008
On April 26, 2008, at 11:34pm, the most tender - yet tough - and the most loving - yet unaffectionate - man I've ever known, died of complications from heart surgery. He was 81 years old and had lived a long and good life. Cletis Arrowood was the quintessential "good ol' boy," and a man who knew how to fix anything with an engine. I will never forget his crooked grin or twinkling blue eyes. I will never forget his sun-weathered, cracked leather neck, and his grease-stained fingers. He only told me he loved me once - but that's all I needed, because I knew - without a doubt - that I was the apple of his eye. God sure doesn't make 'em like him anymore. His last words before he was rolled away to surgery were, "If I don't make it out of there, I'll see you in Gloryland." Yep, you sure will Gramps.
Rest in Peace, Grandpa. I love you.
